Immunotherapy
Immunotherapy or desensitisation is a way of treating allergies to pollens or, house dust mite by the use of sublingual wafers, taken regularly over a period of time. Food allergies can be improved by oral immunotherapy (OIT).

Treatments
In patients for whom standard treatments have been ineffective, sub-lingual immunotherapy (SLIT) can be offered to treat several different allergens. We can offer treatment for grass pollen, tree pollen and house dust mite allergy with treatment usually being taken for up to three years. During this period, you would undergo regular reviews in the clinic.
Increasingly, immunotherapy is being offered in specialist centres for some food allergens, including peanut. We can discuss with you whether this would be a suitable treatment and refer on to a food allergen immunotherapy centre in the UK.
